I tend to go to bars every weekend with some close friends. We try and go to different venues each weekend however I do have an all time favorite which happens to be the Marquee Club in Melbourne, Australia. It is absolutely fantastic and is not one of those over done places where everyone has to look perfect to get into the venue. We normally tend to go there once a month on a Saturday. There are two levels. I prefer the second floor where they play the latest music and has a great dancing floor. It is a great meeting point and have met many people and potential boyfriends. They think of all the small details – from the hip Facebook coasters to the pop art on the walls. The drinks are reasonably priced and is open through to the early hours of the morning. Upstairs is slightly more sophisticated than downstairs so it pays to ensure you have decent clothing, hair and make up. We normally get there around 10pm and don’t leave until 5am so it must be good!

I would suggest that you try a Burrito if you are there and I would definitely suggest ordering the nachos with cheese and a salad if you ever want something a little different for lunch. It is such a nice lunch to have and if you have a Taco as well you get a great nutritious meal all in one. Don’t delay though, make sure you give these new and exciting restaurants a go before everyone discovers them!

Whenever I visit my favourite italian restaurant, which is quite often as I cannot cook for toffee in comparison to my wife, And she deserves the break from my constant grumbling about what food we are having that evening. I notice the same staff and management working all the time, this is a medium sized venue, which turns about 200 covers per day. Not huge in the grander scheme of things, but enough to probably clock up eighty plus hours per week.
One evening during a quiet spell after our usual tasty fare, I decided to make some small talk with the owner and his staff. The subject came around to holidays, and I suggested that he along with his fellow employees must be due for a break/holiday, And after laughing non stop for 10 minutes, they replied that neither the owner nor the head chef had taken a day of in over two years. Amazing commitment from all involved, but I thought about it and came to a conclusion that you never run the business, it runs you.
