How to Determine when Your Child is Ready for Potty Training

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Although there is a certain age that people say children should be potty trained, this is not the same for every single child in the world. If you are a parent and are wondering when you should start potty training, the key to knowing is to pay attention to your little one. Look at their development and see how quickly they are progressing with other things. If they learned to walk quickly and are developing at a fast pace then you can probably start to teach them the basics early on. If they are going through the motions a bit more slowly than the average children do, then consider waiting. Once they are ready to be potty trained they will start to ask questions and become more interested in the process. Being aware of their development and what they are ready for can help you save a lot of time and frustration in the potty training process.

Potty Training Urinals: Are They Really Worth the Money?

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

Kid’s products manufacturers are quite creative in seeing the problems that parents or kids experience, and they will try to invent some products that will solve those problems. These manufacturers also realized the problems most parents have during potty training that they came up with the idea of producing potty training urinals. Most of these urinals have similar shapes with the urinals that are found in men’s public bathroom. This shape can motivate your son to use it since he will be able to do the same thing as their daddy or other grown-up men do. The urinal’s shape can also prevent the pee from reaching the bathroom floor or wall. Potty training urinals can be easily attached onto the wall or the door, so you can adjust the position with your child’s height and he will not need a standing stool anymore. Some of them can be attached to the toilet, but the shape is not like the regular urinals; they are more like bowls. Some of them can also stand by themselves, so it will be easier for you to put. There are some potty training urinals that have a flushing feature. So if your son is the kind of kid who enjoys the honour of flushing, this will be a plus point. The price of these urinals are quite expensive compared to potty chairs, but according to most parents who have tried them, these products have made their sons learn how to pee standing fast.

Taking Our Rightful Stand and Doing Our Responsibilities

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

We all have our rights. It is how we live in the society and the degree of respect that we give other. These rights somehow protect us and soothing that we can cling on in case of oppression. And when it comes to parental rights, it becomes an issue of where do parents really draw the line in setting limits and imposing disciple to the children. While children take their stand for they also have the rights, this does not mean that if they take up their rights, the parents lose theirs. These rights are also stipulated in law including the duties and responsibilities of the parents. In my opinion, regardless of the laws and rights that are being implemented by the country, it's only a matter of children's respect for their parents. Children should know their responsibilities to their parents. One of the main responsibility that they need to do is to respect and love their parents in the same way their parents respect and love them. If their parents don't love them, they should have not been in this world in the first place.

Rad Kids Need To Feel Powerful

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Do you have problem children in your house? We do. A couple of our kids are very defiant – they just say no when we tell them to do something they don’t want to. When they’re little, you can handle that – a time out, or some other form of discipline. When they’re older, for instance teenagers, it’s not so easy. So what do you do? Well, it depends on the child. We have one that is a RAD kid, or reactive attachment disorder. The way we deal with him is to let him know it makes him powerful to obey, because then he gets more privileges. RAD kids like to be in control, and have power. It helps them to feel safe, and if they don’t have power they’ll get it however they can. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always work. So with them, you have to show them that by obeying, they’re powerful.
