The Living Requirements for Betta Fish

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Want to grow a healthy betta? Of course you do. And it’s easily done as long as you make sure you’ve got everything they need. Two things on the top of their list of must haves – food and water.

Water: Never place fresh tap water in the tank. Otherwise the chlorine present in tap water could definitely kill your betta and the other fishes in the tank. The best quality of water your betta can thrive in is purified or bottled water. The right water temperature is important too. Since bettas, being somewhat tropical, love to bask in warmer temperatures.

Food: In the natural setting, bettas love to eat mosquito larvae and other smaller critters that share their watering hole. Can’t say it does much for the critters but it helps to prolong the typical betta fish life span. Good eating can do that you know. But you wouldn’t go to all the trouble of catching dinner for your betta, right? So purchasing commercial betta pellets is a much more convenient alternative. As you can easily buy them from the pet stores.

Simply make sure you provide the best living conditions for your bettas and they’re sure to last for a couple of years or more under your care.

Dipping a Dog for Mange

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

There are two different types of dog mange, a skin disease which is caused by mites. Demodectic mange, typically not contagious, is very common in puppies and can be treated with medicated shampoo. Sarcoptic mange is very contagious, often infecting humans, and is treated with ivermectin. Certain dogs, especially the collies, Australian shepherds have a mutation which makes ivermectin toxic. These dogs are treated with lime-sulfur dips. If dips prescribed it will most likely be LymDip, a sulfur product. Shampoo your dog’s coat before applying dip. Dilute 4 ounces of product in 1 gallon of water. Pour your lime sulfur solution over your dog, rubbing his coat well so as to make sure that the solution is distributed evenly. Do not rinse your dog. Dry your dog with a blow dryer. Do not allow your dog to lick its coat until it is completely dry. Repeat this procedure according to the veterinarian’s instructions.

Give Your Cat a Water Fountain

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

A cat water fountain is a small accessory that every cat loving household would really benefit from.

For one, if you are a cat parent, then you live to watch your cats play and just be happy, it’s very therapeutic.

If you have ever caught your little fluff ball sipping water from your bathroom or kitchen faucet then you need to add a fountain to your home.

Fountains are not only good to keep kitty entertained with the running water, but they also help encourage water intake. Proper hydration is key to staying healthy which is extremely important for everyone, cats included.

Cats who live indoors are not the biggest fans of stale, sitting water. You may have noticed this by witnessing your cat dipping his hand in the water bowl just to get it to move, only then will he drink from his bowl.

They prefer moving, fresh water, so why not give him a real treat?

Is It Safe to Take in an Abandoned Dog?

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

If the dog has all his body parts and is free from dog skin problems, it is absolutely safe. In many cases abandoned animals are left by their owners because they had no real understanding of having an animal as a pet and have no real feelings for the dog. These dogs can be rehabilitated, cleaned up and their fears can be assuaged with gentleness and love. You can clear up infections, scabs and dog disorders if you really want the dog. There is nothing that prevents you from having the dog unless you have no time for the dog either. Sometimes pets are given to children as Christmas presents only for the dogs to be neglected and abandoned on the streets. Take the dog into your home and let him find a place in your hearts. Dogs respond to kindness and love. Let this be your present to yourself.

No More Dry Itchy Skin

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

Watching my dog scratch himself raw was driving me insane. I knew that if it was driving me mad, it was definitely having the same effect on him. My Boston terrier had always been prone to skin conditions and we were managing those just fine, but when he started to exhibit more itching and scratching than ever before, I became concerned. I brought him in for a routine vet checkup and the vet assured me that there was nothing wrong or bad, like mange or anything, but it was just a condition that we would have to try to manage the best we could. I’d used other products from this site and have never been disappointed, so one afternoon I sat down at the computer and to my pleasure there was something there that sounded like it would be the perfect and I found dry skin skin remedies that fit the bill. It was affordable, and always when dealing with these guys, easy and effortless. I have been so pleased with the results and am so happy that the itching and scratching have stopped. I can tell that my dog feels better, and a happy dog means a happy owner, and that is just what I am.

They're So Snuggly!

Friday, April 8th, 2011

Most people assume that taking care of puppies is hard work, but that is not necessarily true, now is it? Not if you know what you are doing, no. There are special tips and tricks to doing every thing that most rookies make mistakes about, like shopping for things to buy for your puppy, what to feed your puppy, how to house train your puppy, what to do to keep your puppy healthy, what to do to keep your puppy safe, and just how you are supposed to groom your adorable little puppy. Puppies can be a joy to own and to care for, and a privilege to watch them grow in to their adult hood. I wonder why humans love puppies so much. Is it an instinctual need for companionship that we share? Is it just some thing mammals have for one another? I do not think any one really knows.

What Are Puppies?

Monday, March 28th, 2011

A juvenile dog is called as a puppy. All healthy puppies grow very quickly after birth. The color of the puppies coat changes as it grows. The term puppy refers specifically to the dogs. They are born with fully functional sense of smell, though they can’t open their eyes. Their senses develop rapidly in during first two weeks. In order to find their mothers teats during this period they use their nose, which is the primary sense organ. Puppies cannot see as good as adult dogs. Their ears remain sealed until thirteen to seventeen days after birth. Once the ears are opened they respond very actively to the sound. After their ears and eyes open they no longer depend on their mother. They are highly social animals. During this period they have to be exposed to a wide variety of people. Due to this exposure, there won’t be any sort of fear in their hearts.

Selecting a Puppy

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

If you’re in the market for a little puppy, there are several things that you’ll want to consider before purchasing the little pup. The first thing you’ll want to take into consideration is what type of dog that you can handle. For instance, a pit bull may look cool and may be the hippest thing on the block, but far and away there are more pit bulls at the pound (and subsequently euthanized) than any other dog breed. That’s because the owners, for whatever reason, couldn’t care for them.

The second thing to think about it what you’ll call him? If you need help coming up with a name, just look around the net for some cool dog names male ideas. Of course, if you get a female, you’ll want to come up with female names. A good name is important. It needs to roll off the tongue and it needs to be something that you’re comfortable with.

After all, you’ll likely have the puppy for a good many years. No reason not to start him out on the right foot.

Adding Pullets While You Build a Chicken Coop

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Adding pullets to the chicken coop is a very sensitive matter and should be done with immense care. This is because hens usually have a set pecking order and by adding new pullets friction is created. The basic problem is that the older chickens attack and end up killing the new pullets. It is very important to take time out and follow the essential steps while adding new pullets to the coop. You can find more information about this in reliable chicken coop plans.

Inside the existing coop build a chicken coop. The walls should be enclosed with wires and staples to avoid mixing up the birds. Encircle red lights around the inside of the chicken coop. This red light prevents chickens from pecking against each other.

Post two weeks release all the pullets along with the remaining chickens behind the wire wall. Create a hole in the wire wall for the pullets to go in and come out. Provide good ventilation to the area as little pullets need it for survival.

Run Rolly, Run!

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

Our family owns a beautiful Golden Retriever named Rolly. He’s such a sweet dog and is always very well-behaved. One day, our mom went home from the mall bringing with her some of the dog clippers, fur brushes, shampoo bottles and soaps that we’ve ever seen. Apparently, she went shopping for dog grooming supplies because it was Rolly’s birthday. Because of her supplies, it was time to groom Rolly. We thought that it would be an easy task because Rolly was always a very nice and obedient dog. Things started pretty well until we reached the task of hair trimming. Mom took out the new electric pet trimmer, plugged it in and started to work on Rolly’s fur. But when the motor of the trimmer went on, Rolly panicked and started wriggling free. He barked and barked and immediately ran around the room and out the door. Poor thing probably got scared because of the motor’s sound. We had to chase Rolly down the backyard that day. He sure does run fast!

Researching Products Before Purchase

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

In my opinion nobody should ever pay any amount of money to buy a product on the internet without first doing the proper research. There are many ways to do research on a given products. Just about every website that sells products will have costumer reviews. If you do no other research but looking at these reviews it can still help you out a great deal. I had a friend that was looking for a product that would help trim the nails of her cat. She had grown tired of always having to trim the nails of her cat by herself. She checked out some websites and did a little research on products that will help her with her situation. She checked out a bunch of the Emery Cat reviews. She found that the Emery Cat was the right product for her needs. I hope you research products from now on.

Concerns About Wireless Dog Fences

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

As a pet owner you would love to train your pet very easily and effectively, although at heart you have your pet’s health and welfare in mind. This is why I have written this article to warn you about the dangers of using a wireless dog fence as a training tool for your pets. Many people have turned to this particular device to help trainer dogs because of the fact that has been proven to be not only affordable but extremely effective. The truth is that wireless dog fences used “corrections” to help train your dog. This comes in the form of negative reinforcement which has been proven to have a negative side effects when it comes to training dogs. If you’re curious as to what this correction is, it is actually a shock. That’s right, wireless dog fences you shock therapy is a form of training your pet. This is something that I assume most dog owners would like to avoid.

A Cool Kitten Toy

Friday, December 17th, 2010

I was looking for a really cool toy for my kitten, and one of my friends told me all about the da bird cat toy that she had gotten for her own cats, and she told me it was a huge hit with them. I of course had never heard of this toy before and the way she described it and the price she told me it cost, made me wonder why it was even such a big deal among cat owners. However, once I went out and bought one for my own cats, I instantly realized that it was something with the colorful feather that made them be so attracted to it. My cats have actually been playing with it for the last month, which is something of a record for them, as they usually get quite bored with new toys in a matter of a week and sometimes less than that.

A lot of consumer companies offer different free samples of their products, whether food or non-food items; likewise, certain companies provide free Purina dog food coupons to potential customers. These coupons may consist of free dog food and/or dog treats.

Surely, this is an effective marketing strategy of companies in order to impress and persuade consumers to habitually accept and regularly purchase their products. It is believed that free dog food coupons consist of best quality and highly reliable products to meet consumer satisfaction.
