The smell was a combination of dried sweat, engine oil and a bit of urine. The air conditioning didn’t work, which was just as well because you couldn’t close the windows. And just as predicted, the thing broke down an hour into the trip. We spent an hour waiting for the repair truck to arrive. Granted, we were in no hurry to get to the science museum, but I could think of several better things we could have spent our time with. So the class behaved well, more or less, until the faculty sorted out the mess. Of course, being late, we crashed into other class trips scheduled during the same day. Lucky us, there were cute students from the other schools, and a few of us actually got their names and mobile numbers because we’re that cool. I will suggest that the coordinators better choose a good coach hire company the next time.

The Day Marcel Announced His Engagement
Wednesday, July 6th, 2011Our relationship had blossomed out of the most wonderful and trusting friendship. We met as students whilst studying in Paris together on a fine art degree course. Marcel was different to any of the other young men in my year. He was mature beyond his years and always had a very gentlemanly approach to everything he did. He wasn’t the best looking guy at university but he definitely had something special. After two years of friendship we began dating and our love continued to grow each day. Then in 1999 after spending three joyous and memorable years together Marcel announced that he had met someone new. My heart was broken and I didn’t know where to turn. My decision to return to England was not an easy one but I had to distance myself from him altogether so I left France to go back home and live with my parents for a while. When the invitation came announcing his engagement to his new girlfriend I almost collapsed. They were to celebrate their engagement in one of the hotels in Strasbourg where we had stayed on several occasions. There would be a huge party and I was invited to attend. How could he be so cruel?

Monday, May 16th, 2011Since Rob graduated from kindergarten, he said he would love to go on the Uganda Gorilla tours like we promised him we would take him at the beginning of the year! Well, we’re keeping our promise and bringing him there. I have always thought that it was nice to enforce good behavior with positive reinforcement. There is no way that I would spoil my child. I feel like he has to earn it to deserve something so nice. There are no random surprise gifts, and there is no way I would ever spoil him like my sister does to her children. In a way, I think that bigger rewards are so much better and so much more satisfying than small things like toys. Rob doesn’t even care about toys anymore! I’m glad my method of raising my child worked out to be just as I had planned. I hope that its success continues.
