A friend at work became single after her Husband left her for another woman, she was really upset as they had two children both under five years old. I advised her that although it is really hard for her, she needed to get organised and find out what she would be entitled to now that she was on her own with two dependant children. It was really hard seeing her call up the benefit office, I heard her say, “what benefits and tax credits do I qualify for?” She had no idea that there was so much talking and paperwork to go through before they sorted her out with any money! It was so hard for her to deal with things when the children were asking her so many questions! She felt broken, deceived and hurt. I was there popping around to make sure she was okay for the next few weeks and she told me how she had applied for all of her benefits and they were sorting it all out for her.
